Why I hate blogging

Hey guys. I know it has been a while since I last posted. I'm sorry for my sporadic postings that are mostly about me complaining about my life. So Ill make sure that doesn't happen again. Truthfully I hate posting, I find it hard to dedicate time trying to retell a story in my normal awkward fashion.

Well, to be honestly blunt. These last few weeks have been fricken awesome. I have had so much to be thank full for because of friends and the way events have lined themselves up. Im not sure how long this post is going to be. We will see when I'm done

Alright since It has been almost two months since I have last posted I will bring you up to date. Around spring break me and five kids from my school took a 5 day trip to Ottawa and got to stay in a five star hotel with crappy rooms and a disgruntled bell boy.

After that I finally sent out my Passport form and was pleased to see it arrive in the mail long after I had given up hope that the twisted people working behind the desks at passport Canada hadn't tossed it in the incinerator

Now that we are back up to the present, Let me update you on the Here and now

At the beginning of May I found out that I got into PIT along with some wicked other friends of mine. It looks like it will be a super great time. I was really worried about whether I would get in or not because I am really young to apply and my resume was less than stellar. But despite the odds and with the help of my dashing good looks and charming personality (*Gags*) I was able to slip under the radar and into the PIT lineup

Secondly I just spent a really fun two days in Calgary. With the help of Victoria I was able to pick out a couple new sets of shorts and a new set of jeans. She was even kind enough to make me a birthday cake and try to arrange a surprise Birthday party. It was still fun, and I have to admit I laughed really hard when we got back to her place to find her younger brother Benson had strung up " Happy birthday streamer" that were low enough to strangle me a few times when I wasn't paying attention and greeted us at the door with his trumpet blaring out happy birthday. We spent the rest of the night eating Cake, jogging off the cake and watching the second season of the OC.

Thirdly. One of my personal favorites.... SOCCER. That's right, despite this abnormally long bought of snow, and a late start to the season. Soccer is back, and in full control of my time. I coach the U 12 team, play as one of the seniors of the U 16 league. In addition to that I got my reffing certificate ( not a linesman but a full fledged reff). We have played our first couple of games and won them. Amazingly I was able to dredge up a couple of crossbar ringing shots ( Though I'm a defense) and walk away with 7 plus assists.

* I stop now to ponder what other inane details about my life I can bore you with*

Well last week I turned 16 and took my drivers exam, I passed ( Without studying I might add). Though the idea of driving is novel, and I have only been out twice, I can say without too much worry of loosing sleep tonight that I dislike driving. Sure I will be the first one to ask for a ride if I'm feeling overly lethargic or running short on time, but the thought of me actually behind that wheel of concentration scares me and everyone else on the road (and off for that matter). Not to mention the fact that my dear sweet father is sitting next to me barking at me to not to accelerate when I see pedestrians or to slow down when kids are crossing the road, at times he can drive ( Excuse the pun) me up the blasted wall. For the week and a half that I have had my license I have already had 8 threats from him of " Not taking me driving if I don't do what he says". Oh well, when you live in a town as sleepy as Elkford you don't really *Have* to drive anywhere.

Well, Its 12:09 am and I have to leave in the morning at 8. If someone actually did drudge up the courage and patients to slog through this blog I will congratulate them on a job well done. For those of you who like to tear me apart for my terrible grammar and spelling skills I suggest that you take some Ex lax for your worries.

The men who dont fit in

This one leaves me wanting to do somthing dumb on my ski's every time I read it.

There's a race of men that don't fit in,

A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain's crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don't know how to rest.

If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they're always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: "Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!"
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.

And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It's the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope that's dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.

He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Life's been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He's a rolling stone, and it's bred in the bone;
He's a man who won't fit in.

Whisked Away

Sorry guys for the lack of current blogs. Life has as always been crazy busy. Three jobs with homework and fundraising for my trip to Ottawa has made life complicated. The weekend was great. A skiing trip to fernie is exactly what the doctor ordered.

But I did not start a blog merely for the sake of telling you why my life is harder than the other 6.3 billion people on this planet and why you should pity me. Something extraordinarily weird has happened. I'm not talking about rediscovering some obscure pudding flavor that you used to like way back in kindergarten weird. But more like a friend vanishing from the face of the earth in the middle of the night weird.

I was away from home this last weekend at a ski retreat with my youth group. Usually I spend most of my time hanging out with my friends at our local hill but as I mentioned above I couldn't. When I got back to school two days ago one of my class mates Matt wasn't there. I asked mildly curious were he might be (with the current second semester people have been coming and going with the end of basketball tournaments) . His friends said that he had broken his collar bone and was spending the next couple of days in the hospital. Something didn't sound quite right to me. I do not claim to be an expert but I know enough of CPR en such to know that a broken color bone would not constitute an extenuated stay in the hospital. Then I found out that a few days prior (Sunday I think) he had cleaned out his locker at school. Rumors began to surface that since he was going to be in hospital for a while his mom had decided to home school him because she was afraid he would fall behind in school. Again something did not seem quite right. One of my other classmates had hit a power pole on his toboggan broke all his ribs shattered his right leg and punctured a lung and he was still doing homework in the hospital. *( I don't claim to have had the foresight to have pieced all of these things together). Then today the real news of what happened. Him, his mother and his two brothers had packed their bags in the middle of the night and left for Japan. Matt had never broken his color bone. It was all a elaborate hoax for them to make there escape

It seams so unreal . But the thought of how much life changes has been predominate among my other thoughts of late. I mean one day you have a friend who you laugh and talk with, we skied lots and did lots of other things together. The next day you are faced with the fact that you will probable never see him again. I mean the last thing in the world I expected was to loose a friend so suddenly and in such a manor. Anyways, please pray for him, everybody at the school including the teachers miss you Matt.

Oy mate. Im going after the Pearl

You scored as Captain Jack Sparrow. Roguish,quick-witted, and incredibly lucky, Jack Sparrow is a pirate who sometimes ends up being a hero, against his better judgement. Captain Jack looks out for #1, but he can be counted on (usually) to do the right thing. He has an incredibly persuasive tongue, a mind that borders on genius or insanity, and an incredible talent for getting into trouble and getting out of it. Maybe its brains, maybe its genius, or maybe its just plain luck. Or maybe a mixture of all three.

Done with the Finals onto the Provincals

Today was the day of my English Final. With provincial week next week, a few large socails test and three steady jobs I was kinda running into overdrive mode. Yesterday my friends asked me if I would like to go Ski ma Sledding (Our version of water skiing behind a ski doo) and of course like any decent person would, I said yes. That was completely forggetting the fact I had a final exam the next day. Two Socails projects due and some work I said Ill do for a friend. After I got home and went to floor hockey ( Im just rolling in good idea's eh?) .I realized the extent of just how much I had to do and went into Wilkie Over drive mode ( This Is a mode that mostly utalized by Wilkie males . Syptoms include frenzied studying ten minuets before leaving for test and repeated use of swear words.) Somhow by the grace of God I remebered every thing I was studying and feal like I did good Wich is bad because that usualy means I did really bad. But anyways with those behind me I have clear sailing for another few days

On the bright side I did get my full face ski helmet on saturday. And I have been trying some more tricks on my ski's . Sadly the dear sweet lift is going through a mid life crisis and will be shut down for the next little while, and my ski's are at the hill preventing me from further Ski Ma sledding but there is always picture person. When chris went out yesterday he was getting over ten feet of air and twenty to thirty feet of distance. Kevan if you are reading this screw building a jump when you come home for christmas this is more air than I have ever seen. Chris got of 10 consecutive swear words before he even thought of landing. We have a sweet downhill landing and about three feet of powder for playing in.

Anyways I will end of with my Favorite songs of the week

Mothers with Brooms

Have you ever had it were you had somthing slightly important. So you put it in the most obscure place you can think of knowing that the chances of somone finding it there are a million to one. Only to go back and find out it is missing? *Sobs*. My friend Stina got an I pod for christmas. Only to find out her computor was too old for the software. So when I heard her planning to return It I said that I could take her Cd's and put them onto her Ipod using my comp. She gave me her Cd and a song list that had taken her a extremely long time to make and asked me for the songs.

I was so buisy that week and new that I would not be able to get to it so I put it next to my computor under a piece of wood that we use to hold up the phone and some Cd racks. As some twisted person would have it my mom was using the phone and knocked the wood off. Seeing the piece of paper with 200+ songs on it she thought it was my sisters, ripped it into six tiny little pieces and tossed it into the garbage.

But wait. If your not conviced this is a sick play by fate it gets better. That night I wasnt buisy for the first time so I went grab the paper. I lifted the board and it wasnt there. I looked beside the computor and it wasnt there either. With a little bit of a shudder I asked mom if she had done any cleaning
~ I must make a note here. My moms version of cleaning consists of anything that doesnt look like it has a use gets thrown out without a second glance~ I asked her If she had seen a little piece of paper and she said no. I persisted and she said vaguely that she might have tossed somthing like that into the garbage. With a small sob I went and searched there. Needless to say after several disgusting moments I pulled the relativly intact paper onto the counter. Pieced it together like a bad jigsaw puzzle and it is sitter there now drying.

Morals of the story. 1. Pick the most open place to hide somthing
2. Never doubt a mothers skill of finding somthing important in a place
that she never looks and throwing it out

Fernie and back

I found out that this blog wasnt posted but saved as a draft. This was current as of new years

Well yet another adventure with greame victoria garret and nick has gone by, and yet again we come up with a solution to a problem just in the "Nick" of time. Yes I know that it was a terrible pun and that I should be shot for it but meh. This weakend we went out to fernie and threw a multi person birthday party. It was a blast. I almost got my (explicit content edited) kicked by a drunk for a coment I made at the flames (not knowing at the time he was drunk out of his raving mind), wich was resovled by greame getting his (Explicit content edited) kicked at a game of pool. I tell you for being drunk he was still amazing. We went to the pool and frolicked there followed by a trip to Rip n Richards for some amazing food. Ahh it was good times all around. And If victoria ever sends me those pictures then I might just get around to posting them. I am really tired right now, walking around fernie in the wee hours of the morning followed by watching some Pirates of the Carribean tends to make a fellow tired. I must say to all involved in that great weakend thank you, I had a blast. I hope we can get together soon again. As for me I am about to get the first ski turns of the season in so I must prepare myself.

Dan

P.S. For those of you who read this blog I have actualy gotten a page set up on EBlog and am learning how to work it. I must confess that I have not put allot of time into it. But I am slowly transferring my blogs onto it
